Matt Strand, PA-C
Like my Brother, I too was born and raised in Wyoming. After high school I went to Duluth, MN where I played soccer and earned a degree in exercise physiology and athletic training. Right out of school I went to work for a Physical Therapy clinic in Casper and was given the opportunity to get into the pharmaceutical industry as a product representative. During that time I longed for the connection with the patients I once had and also realized the need for more medical providers in our state. I decided to go back to school at the age of 30 and become a Certified Physician Assistant. By the grace of God I was accepted to the Class of 2012 at Eastern Virginia Medical School. I realized early on in my medical education that I wanted to do family medicine and focused my rotations on this field. I knew when I graduated and passed my exam I would come back Casper.
I started right out of school with my brother, Dr. Jason Strand and his partner at the time Dr. Eric Lawrence. After some time, Jason and I moved into the hospital system. I’ve worked at Sage Primary Care for the last five and a half years taking care of the people of Casper, and what a blessing it has been. Once again I’ve joined my brother in a new medical practice with an exciting new medical model known as the DPC (Direct Primary Care). Since starting his practice I have seen first-hand how he is taking care of his patients and it is invigorating. In a system that, in my opinion, has become obsessed with money and speed and forgotten about what is truly important, the patient, he has been able to make a living and get time back with his patients and his family. In this situation everyone wins.
My family is the most important thing to me. My wife Becky is truly my angel and gift from God. She has been with me for the last 23 years and I would not even be close to the man I am today without her huge blessings on my life which includes our two children. Our beautiful and amazing daughter Bethany is 14 years. She is an exceptional student, outstanding runner, and soccer player. She was invited to the regional Olympic Development training in 2018 for soccer, and we are so proud of her and her hard work. She also loves slime and torturing her brother. Caleb, our son, is 11 years old. He is so full of life and joy, people just love to be around him. He also excels in the classroom and in soccer. Caleb also likes playing games, building Legos and is my go to guy for a hug after a hard day. I love them all so much! The newest addition to our family is our dog, Allie. She is an Australian Shepard mix we rescued from the humane society. We are a busy family that can be found, most nights at the soccer fields but every night at the dinner table together.
Besides my medical life I also spend time each week out working with my dad on our family’s ranch west of town. Being honest, hardworking, and living by the Golden Rule are all values I have learned on the ranch. I also coach for the Casper Soccer Clubs Blades program and am so privileged and blessed to have spent time with the families that entrust me with this honor. God, Family, Medicine, Ranch, Soccer. That pretty much sums me up. I am so excited to join my brother again. He has always been a hero of mine and I cannot wait to help take care of you and your family at our new practice. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. God Bless.
